People Willing to Help

I think I’ve understood how a genocidal maniac came to power in Germany in 1933, but haven’t yet understood why so many Germans were willing to help him fulfill his wishes. Might enough Americans be willing to help a crazed narcissistic sociopath fulfill his wishes after such an individual came to power in the United Sates? In the land of Abraham Lincoln, A Grand Old Flag, Take Me Out to the Ballgame, Martin Luther King, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and The Fourth of July? It appears so.
