An Explanation

I haven’t tried to resume anything close to a daily blog because I’m focusing my limited (94-year-old) energies on a project (I’ll talk about it another time) and because my life has been radically disrupted (a state I hope will improve next month), and because of the flood of transgressions of law, civility, and decency thrust upon us by the crazed authoritarian regime that has taken control of our country. In his commentary sent to people on his mailing list this morning, Robert Reich explains: “One of the purposes of ‘flooding the zone,’ as the Trump regime is trying to do — shocking and awing us with its blitzkrieg of bonkers orders — is to make it almost impossible to sort out what we should be incredibly freaked out about from what we should merely freak out about.”
