Capitulation, Compromise, and Collaboration

These are words each with a big No-No attached to it if you’re living in a democracy that’s succumbing to autocratic rule. The saddest thing about the year so far is how many individuals and institutions have ignored the warning; “We’re being practical,” they say, but practicality isn’t the operative factor, which is that it’s wrong. Moreover, it’s not practical. Giving in to sociopathic bullies strengthens the voice within them that tells them they can never have enough.
